Sue Harrison-Haber has a
successful history working with teens and adults as a credentialed
State Registered Addiction Specialist, Certified Chemical
Dependency Counselor, and Certified Hypnotherapist. Starting
out in 2002 as a Hypnotherapist, she was getting so many addiction
clients that she decided to pursue her credentials in addiction.
Since 2004 she has specialized in addiction, and works with
adolescents and adults in areas of substance abuse, eating
disorders and addiction.
Sue was first introduced to treatment and 12-step recovery
at age 16 with a family member who was an Alcoholic. Her career
took her in many directions, and in 2002, she became a Certified
Hypnotherapist from the Hypnosis Motivation Institute in Tarzana,
and then in 2004 a State Registered Addiction Specialist from
The Breining Institute, (one of the ten State Certifying Organizations
approved by the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs, California
Code of Regulations, Section 13035), and in 2005, a Certified
Chemical Dependency Counselor from the Institute of Advanced
Counseling.
Sue has worked in both in-patient and out-patient facilities
helping clients with identifying substance abuse issues, and
learning recovery tools. “Helping my clients to stay
in recovery, and to regain their sense of self-worth is incredibly
gratifying.” “Those wonderful moments are just
a part of why I love what I do every day.”
Sue currently works in private practice in Thousand Oaks
with adults, adolescents, and families on issues of personal
recovery, coping skills, aftercare plans, and substance abuse
awareness. Sue recovered from bulimia, and drugs at a young
age, and helps her clients understand the 12-step approach,
as well as other treatment modalities. It is her passion to
help young people and adults understand addiction, and ensure
that her clients coming out of treatment stay in the “treatment
model” and a life that promotes healing, recovery and
success.
Sue is also a member of the Westlake Chamber of Commerce
Education Committee as well as the American Counseling Association.
She is active in her community, speaking at schools, and helping
teens to become aware of the many resources available. “I
am tremendously committed to the field of recovery, and to
giving back my experience, strength, and hope.”
